King of Greed (Kings of Sin #3)

Blurb

He had her, he lost her…and he’ll do anything to win her back.

Powerful, brilliant, and ambitious, Dominic Davenport clawed his way up from nothing to become the King of Wall Street.

He has everything—a beautiful home, a beautiful wife, and more money than he could spend in a lifetime. But no matter how much he accumulates, he’s never satisfied.

In his endless quest for more, he drives away the only person who saw him as enough.

It isn’t until she’s gone that he realizes there may be more to life than riches and glory…but by then, it may be too late.

Kind, intelligent, and thoughtful, Alessandra Davenport has played the role of trophy wife for years.

She stood by her husband while he built an empire, but now that they’ve reached the top, she realizes he’s no longer the man she fell for.

When it becomes clear that she’ll always come second to his work, she finally takes charge of her life and puts herself first—even if it means leaving the only man she’s ever loved.

But what she didn’t count on was his refusal to let her go…or for him to fight for their marriage, no matter what it takes

My review

It's been ages since I rooted for a couple as much as I did for Dominic and Alessandra. Despite their flaws, their love for each other was never in question.

Dom, the dreamer with dyslexia, and Ali, the tutor-turned-lover, started off as the cutest couple. They fell head over heels and tied the knot quickly. But when Dom's success turned him into a millionaire, he lost sight of what truly mattered.

With Dom lost in his office and missing dates, and Ali left twiddling her thumbs at home, their relationship hit rock bottom. I mean he couldn't even make to their anniversary!

Only when Ali finally packed her bags, Dom realized he'd messed up big time.  He was blind to his own absence until it was too late. Yet, I wasn’t solely his fault. Ali could have spoken up instead of letting things slide until they crashed and burned.

Despite Dom's obvious regret and love, the divorce was swift, and Ali decided to focused on herself. But Dom refused to give up, determined to win her back.

Both had to change, with Ali setting hoops for Dom to jump through to ensure they wouldn't fall back into old patterns. Their happy ending was inevitable.

Now, I'm not usually one for giving in for second chance books, but their story was like finding a gem in a pile of rocks. Greed nearly consumed Dom, but he realized too late that money and status weren't enough for true happiness. He learned the hard way that money can't buy happiness, especially when you're too busy counting bills to notice the love of your life slipping away.

But let’s talk about the next book in line…. I'm a tad apprehensive about Sloane, the wildcard in the next book. Honestly, she hasn't quite won me over yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a surprise twist that'll knock my socks off!
