The King's Men (All For The Game #3)

Blurb

Neil Josten is out of time. He knew when he came to PSU he wouldn't survive the year, but with his death right around the corner he's got more reasons than ever to live.

Befriending the Foxes was inadvisable. Kissing one is unthinkable. Neil should know better than to get involved with anyone this close to the end, but Andrew's never been the easiest person to walk away from. If they both say it doesn't mean anything, maybe Neil won't regret losing it, but the one person Neil can't lie to is himself.

He's got promises to keep and a team to get to championships if he can just outrun Riko a little longer, but Riko's not the only monster in Neil's life. The truth might get them all killed—or be Neil's one shot at getting out of this alive.

My Review

In the third book, Neil takes us on a wild ride! He undergoes a profound transformation, shedding his quiet facade to emerge as a formidable leader, confronting both his past and present with newfound courage. The stakes are higher than ever as he grapples with a monstrous figure from his past, while also striving to unify his team for the challenges ahead.

This book delves into even darker territories, with a level of gore that hits hard, especially for a young adult novel. Yet amidst the bloodshed, the team grows stronger, their jagged pieces fitting together, with even Kevin finding a backbone.

The final match is a gripping spectacle, leaving readers cheering as if watching a live event.

The emotional journey of the characters is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, as they endure trials that test their strength and resilience. The growth of Andrew, Neil, and Kevin is particularly noteworthy, with each facing their demons and emerging stronger for it.

The camaraderie among the team is heartwarming, with moments of laughter and tears that resonate deeply. Even the sport of EXY becomes enthralling, drawing readers into the intensity of the matches, cheering alongside the characters.

Now, about Andrew – talk about a character who steals the show! He's completely unique, completely enigmatic, and completely captivating. And don't even get me started on the chemistry between him and Neil! The angst, the trauma, the PROTECTIVENESS– it's like catnip for drama lovers like me! *chefs kiss*

And the Heartbreaking moments, from Andrew's gestures towards Neil to Wymack's heart-breaking speech, leaving readers reaching for tissues as they navigate the emotional highs and lows.

Overall, these books are a testament to the power of resilience, found family and friendship, with characters who defy expectations and triumph over adversity. Whether it's the thrill of the game or the depth of the characters' emotions, these books are impossible to put down, inviting readers to revisit them time and time again.

Oh the fabulous news! After years and years we just get a new book! I cannot believe it’s finally here and I can have MORE! The new book is an unexpected release for me, but couldn’t make me happier!
