Steel Princess / RinaVerse #3 / Royal Elite #2
This book FINALLY gives us a glimpse into the unhinged mind of Aiden King, and it’s exactly what you’d expect—dark, chaotic, and completely devoid of boundaries. Aiden is unapologetically evil, a dangerous psychopath who hides behind a perfect facade. His possessiveness over Elsa goes beyond toxic; it’s downright terrifying. His character feels even more unhinged, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The few moments we get in his POV are worth every page turn, giving us insight into a man who’ll stop at nothing to keep Elsa by his side, no matter how hard she tries to resist.
I’m glad that Aiden is still every bit as twisted as before, and his intensity makes it impossible to look away. He’s not the kind of character you’re supposed to like, but you can’t help being enthralled by his darkness. And those twitchy grey eyes? Let’s just say I’d play his mind games any day.
As much as I liked Elsa in the first book, I have to admit that her actions tested my patience. While she’s hell-bent on keeping Aiden at arm’s length, she’s also navigating the revelation of her childhood and the truths about herself. I appreciated her strength and resilience, but sometimes, her overdramatic reactions made me side with Aiden. However, she does come around, and by the end, Elsa’s growth and determination start to shine through again. She may be frustrating, but she’s a crucial part of the twisted dynamic that makes this series so compelling.
The chemistry between Aiden and Elsa is still pure, delicious toxicity, turned up a notch. They are polar opposites, yet their connection somehow works, making their interactions electric and unpredictable. As their relationship develops, we see just how deep their bond runs, even if it’s a little (okay, a lot) twisted. The more you read, the more you realize just how perfectly they click, each one filling in the other’s jagged edges in a way that feels inevitable.
Let’s be real—Steel Princess, and the whole Royal Elite series, are not for everyone. It’s dark, with trigger warnings a mile long. If you’re not into morally grey characters or twisted romance tropes, this isn’t the book for you. But if you’re here for the dark academia vibes, billionaires with baggage, bullies, and a love story that’s toxic in the best way, you’ll love it. I’ve seen bad reviews criticizing Aiden’s psychotic tendencies, but honestly? This is dark romance—what did you expect? A Prince Charming?
Anyway, while Steel Princess did lose a star for Elsa’s over-the-top antics at the beginning, it quickly redeems itself with a compelling plot, twisted characters, and an addictive storyline that pulls you deeper into Aiden’s world. Aiden King is still very much a psycho without a leash, and it’s a thrill to witness his descent into obsession over Elsa.
